Rule of Law

I respect an fully understand those here that want "Rule of Law" to take it's course and do the honorable thing. I would love an ideal world where that is the case.
Consider that there are many religions in the world that believe that if you do not believe their way that you are an infidel and it is perfectly legal and in fact mandatory to eliminate all infidels by any means possible. Their way of thinking is foreign and frightening to our sensabilities. Some of those religions even start from the same Bible many of us worship.
If the Minute Men had fought what way considered honorable in 1776 at Concord and Lexington (lines of men with muskets standing facing each other in open fields), we'd still be pledging allegence to the King (Queen).
Our Unites Stated "Rule of Law" is based on Christian beliefs coming from the Magna Carta (was it 1058? ) and the Bible and many other places. Even Christ was not Christian but a Jew where eye for an eye was pledged.
I do not think there is a good way out of this mess or even a high road. I'm afraid that the western world will need to lower ourselves towards (not to) their level to keep this under control. I actually can not see any reasonable way out because the terrorists have a much different set of standards that they judge resonableness (is that a word?) of actions on. Their way of thinking and their religion is so alien that I can only vaguly think along their lines and feel dirtied by thinking that way. However To be able to fight an enemy you must understand them and then think like them even if you do not approve of it.
My father flew B-25's against the Japs in WWII. His Mother, youngest brother and two sisters were in Jap concentration camps. A fellow B-25 crew was shot dowm over Jap held New Guinea. It was later found out that the downed crew had been be-headed by the Japs - how barbaric!!!! Dad seldom talked about it and always got very angry and yet in recent years I've heard that according to the Jap code at the time, Beheading was the highest of honors to a prisoner since a worior was to fight to the death and one not allowed death was considered a non-person.
We must understand our enemy and how he thinks.
That is why I think beefing up intellegence and realligning some of the military to allow more covert operations might be the best solution of many disappointing ones.
I also believe that the only thing we can do is control terrorism and keep it at a tolerable level. Even the Bible states that evil will always be with us.
