Earl...
Thanks for correcting my sloppy reporting about the departure of Kyle Railways from the C&TS RR. Almost everyone I have spoken with reports that the company did a very responsible job of running the railroad.
I did meet Lynn Cecil once, at one of the first conventions of the Tourist Railroad Association. (I belive in Chicago) He was most friendly and gracious, and I have no problem believing that he was a good person to work for.
My problem with Willis Kyle is that I came away from that first meeting with a "gut-feel" that this man is just going to wait for Scenic to fail, and then step in. It will take a lot of argument to make me belive that my gut was twisted.
It pained me greatly when Scenic left the C&TS RR, even though I had left the company earlier (in 1977, because of an internal dispute). Our original lease was for 25 years, renewable for another 25. But, I'm sure I would not have lived through that many years in Chama.
Best regards, Bob Keller
