I say do what railroads did in the 1800's in the west, after all this is a historical railroad. Just hire some "hands" to look after Osier, arm them to the teeth, and shoot anyone who even thinks about damaging the property.
Heck, you could even call it a "railroad war."
If that doesn't work, I say go with the claymores.
