09-27-07 C&TSRR Commission Meeting
Not surprised but disappointed. I asked if the commission had received any more than the usual amount of E-mails about items on the agenda. The answer was NO. They did say, nothing unusual other than the letter from Zack. This report is from my memory so if anybody wants to correct anything or add anything PLEASE do it. Thanks Zack and anyone else that did contact the commission.
A. Approval of Resolution - Terms of Officers -Lon Carpenter
The commission is trying to get everything changed to the calender year and that includes the terms of officers. They asked the AG to check and tell them how they can do this.
B. Approval of Schedule and Fares for 2008 Season Tim Tennant
A few changes in fares. A couple of small increases and a few decreases. The idea is to get more people to take the morning bus and less to take the afternoon bus. The problem right now is bus capacity getting the folks back to Chama in the evening. 10 Cinder Bear Trains for 2008 and during the slow weeks a family train on Sundays. Both will be separate trains leaving at 11am for Cumbres pass for lunch and returning at 3pm. Lunch will be provided by Stephen Flowers
C. Approval of Search for New Reservation System -Richard Tower
Back to square one. What we have is not working and they don't think it can be fixed. The search will include but not limited to Craft, Grand Canyon railroad and D&S railroad. Basically the idea this time is to get something that is proven and works
D. Approval of New C&TSRR Logo
The State flag logo with the center showing a K36 coming at you and mountains in the background. Everybody at the meeting including me likes the new logo. When it was presented it had the 488 on the engine and the marketing folks said that was because it was one of the engines that is running and they thought that was important. After a 483 sales pitch the engine number has been changed to 483 on the new logo. Nice logo everybody at the meeting liked it. YES the engine # is 483

E. Approval of Request from Village of Chama
The commission approved the village request to lease the property between the Rotary Park and the dollar store. They are going to turn it into a small park and plant the village Christmas tree there. Picnic tables and etc. Good idea the Village gets to use property the railroad does not use
F. Approval of Freinds Interpretative/visitor Center - Nan Clark/Bob Ross
Approved with a change saying the friends will keep the Commission up to date on the funding. It will be located by the old bunkhouse which was discussed here
G. Approval of Concept of Car Shelter Over Tracks in Chama - Leo Schmitz
The idea is a good one but not to be done in the yard. When the friends do come to the commission with a proposal they should consider Zack's ideas and suggestions
H. Discuss/Develop Plan for Grant Writing - Lon Carpenter
The commission and the friends will keep each other up to date on their grant requests and work together to make sure they are not competing for the same money
