Knott's rebuilt equipment

Attention RGS fans! OK D&RGW, too. The illustrious Knott's Calico Railroad Steam Crew has just finished rebuilding another piece of equipment for revenue service in 2001 for the 50th Anniversary Celebration. The last piece of unrestored equipment on the property was the extremely deteriorated (Termites & rot) 5576 stock car. The car was carefully moved to the shop and completely rebuilt as an accurate reproduction of a Rio Grande High side Gondola. The original stock car series number was retained to provide a historical link to the original car. Because of the extreme deterioration of the original car, none of the original wood could be saved. The car had been cannibalized over the years for spare parts, so its impossible to say exactly what remains of the original car. Suffice to say that there is a "new" piece of narrow gauge equipment generating revenue for its owner.
