durango turntable and the K's

September 04, 2007 08:16PM
The present turntable in Durango was apparently brought there from Alamosa in 1926. The previous turntable was adequate to turn the C-17 or C-18 locomotives, but was too short for the K-28 and K-36. However, the DRGW bought the K-28's in 1923 and the K-36's in 1925. Hence, they must have come to Durango sometime during or after 1926. Any thoughts on when they were first in Durango?
