This question of green boiler paint continues to intrigue me. A while back someone posted the spec for the paint the D&RGW used, so apparently it did have some official sanction.

Now my question is, when and where was it used, and under what circumstances. Was the application left to the whim of the local shop people, or was is dictated by upper management? Also, was the application of green paint intended to be applied to all D&RGW power - eventually or otherwise? And was any SG power painted green, even for a short time.

A few days ago I made mention of the two K class engines in green paint heading up the Monarch branch which show up in the Emery Gulash film. In this particular instance, who made the decision, and how long (dates) did the green paint officially last?

Personally (although others will disagree), I like the green paint. So many questions, and so little time !!! smiling smiley
