The "new" operation at Sumpter Valley has entrigued me for some time. Alas, it will be years before I can visit.
I am interested in how this group was able to obtain the right-of-way to rebuild its line, structures, purchase rail, ties, etc.
How was funding obtained?
How much of the equipment was donated? purchased? etc.
Who was the driving force behind the "modern" SVRR being built and operated?
How was the public, which could have objected to the project, "handled" so they would be positively inclined to towards the railroad?
Finally, who is responsible for operating the railroad and preserving it as it currently exists?
Finally, finally, any idea on when the 2-6-6-2 replica is going to be built?
