Silverton article in today's NY Times

An interesting article is in today's New York Times about Slverton Mountain ski area. Situated on Storm Peak, just nort of Baker's Park, it is described as Colorado's scruffiest ski area, with the most exciting runs in North America. A second-hand lift takes skiiers part way up, with up to an hour more of hiking to get to the top. The skiing is guided, due to extreme avalanche danger, and guides recommend taking Viagra to help breathing at the 12,000 foot heights! Only expert skiiers need apply.
Silverton has tried to build a ski run for over 4 decades. This area has been open a few years. The "ski lodge" is a leaky tent! Like Silverton itself, the ski area is an anachronism, harking back to what the ski industry looked like half a century ago.
