To my distress, I have learned through personal sources that the reporter for the Pueblo Chieftain, Erin Smith, is being thoroughly trashed on another board, for her last story on the Commission meeting in Chama.
Although her name ran below the headline, I have learned that the story was re-written by one of her editors. It is unfortunate that a person who has reported for 35 years, and taught journalism, has to be treated this way. This is most unfair.
After many attempts, I have confirmed through friends in Alamosa, the accuracy of what I am writing here.
Perhaps this is a classic example of what happens when the truth is not known, and when a leader of a pack has enough power to instruct the rest of his loyal following to blindly follow orders, and howl at the moon in unison...with blatant disregard of the facts or
the truth.
Some apologies are in order. Let's see whether some are 'men enough' to do it.
