Historic ROW PIC

Where is this historic ROW located, and of course, on which famous ng line? Hints later if needed. My name and email address is left off because that would be a big hint to some folks.
This first photo show the highly overgrown ROW as it proceeds up hill. The highway obliterates it for about 100 yds. before it reappears on the opposite side of the road as a USFS road.
