A roundhouse locomotive repairman is seen here catching the train “on the fly” to replace a hot journal brass on the pony truck, after reports from the enginemen that there were many loud noises and something burning. This is now common practice on the D&S since the rule forbidding trainmen from getting on and off moving equipment was repealed, and forever abolished due to the ridiculous nature of such a confining rule during wartime conditions.
