Bucksgahuda & Western review & questions

August 20, 2006 08:42PM
Just wanted to give a quick overview of how my visit went to the Bucksgauda & Western in St. Marys, PA.
I had been watching the weather for about a week and saw that it was supposed to rain in St Marys with the chance of thunder showers - well when we got there to our delight the sun was out but so were some clouds - but no rain!!
We got there about 1:30 and could smell coal smoke - man it smelled good! We watched the tank engine return from a trip out to the end of the new extension and then run around the loop. When the train arrived back at the station - which is in the process of being built, we boarded the caboose and enjoyed a ride over the railroad. This was my son's first train ride (he is only 11 months old), he smiled for the entire ride and bounced in rhythm with the stack talk and sang along with the whistle - boy did he make me proud <img class=" /> After that we walked the new extension and took some pictures of the train. Then, finally what I have been waiting years to see - the shay ran on a train! It was hard to decide what engine to take pictures of - the shay or the tank engine, but today the shay won. I really liked how things were run today, it was nice to have the shay on the extension and the tank engine on the loop. it was non stop action and this way trips were run more frequently.
Now to the questions...
I overheard some people talking about how the new extension is going to be extended even farther. How far is it going to go?
And to be honest, I am so tired that I forgot my other question - so I am just going to bed.
I hope to post pictures later this week - like I said Im going to bed now <img class=" />
Matt
p.s. Just needed to add a HUGE thanks to the crew and volunteers at the B&W it was a great day and it is great to visit there every year because so much is always happening and getting bigger and better!
