Hi,
I have posted here in the past about this upcoming book. I have the first copy in my hands. I will be ordering inventory soon. Those who have already purchased the book, thanks for being patient.
For those interested in the book, details are at my web site [douglasvanveelen.home.mindspring.com]
The book is available at my e-Bay store "Doug's Railroad Stuff".
The book has track plans and industries of the Georgia RR and Walton RR in Social Circle. The dual gauge trackage of the Gainesville Midland and the Georgia RR in Monroe. The trackage of the GM, GA RR, and the Greene County in Monroe. SAL and Gainesville, Jefferson & Southern/GM trackage in Winder (including NG & SG industrial tracks crossing). GM, Southern, and Gainesville & North Western tracks in Gainesville. And finally, Athens Terminal Company tracks in Athens (joint SAL/GM).
As for Narrow Gauge content, The GM/GJ&S was 36" gauge, the logging railroads around Helen had 42" gauge track and there was 7 mainline route miles of dual gauge 42"/56.5" gauge track there. And finally, the first track laid by any company covered in detail by the book was 60" (5') gauge so all that were running 56.5" were narrow gauge <img class=" />
Also, I am printing the less than stellar photos (either old ones I can print out better than the publisher or color ones that I had to print in B&W) from the book in calendars. I also plan to add new information to the calendars as it comes to light.
Thanks for reading
Doug
