The photo below depicts what I can make out of the Rio Grande & Southwestern grade near Lago(s) New Mexico. This is about midway between Lumberton and El Vado. I was wondering if anyone out there has attempted any exploration in this region. Probably not since it is on the Jicarilla reservation. It features some interesting trackwork with the loops and multiple trestles. It appears that there was probably a spur that branched off and headed west at the bottom of the photo. A 547' siding is out of shot just south of here.
Next I'll have to take a look at Thompson Mesa to see if I can spot any traces of the switchbacks.
