Decided to start on a live steam project. It will be a very basic 7.5" gauge model.
I based my plans off a crudely drawn exploded view from another live steamer. I should say I have no engineering background, so I am pretty much self-taught.
So far I have designed and cut all the cylinder peices. as shown in the design below (with the original drawing I based my design off of overlayed)
The only problem I think I will have in the project is the design and construction of the boiler, since it is something I really dont want to screw around with. I am looking into possibly purchasing a pre-built boiler.
Luckily I have access to a relatives metal shop, so cutting and milling all the peices is a peice of cake.
Anyways, I will post pics of the completed cylinders sometime this weekend, once I get the pistons/valves cut, and get them assembled.
