Switching Chama in the 40's

August 29, 2005 08:21AM
To the All Knowing:
If I understand the situation, sometine in the mid to late 1930's Chama was reduced to just a turn-around point by working the crews out of Alamosa and Durango. The trains were timed to meet in Chama turn and return to their base with an overnight rest. Fine and dandy but what was done about local switching of the oil dock and the saw mill? And how did they provide engines and crews for the rotary operations when required if no motive power were stationed at Chama?
