Playing with Black and White *PIC*

July 16, 2005 07:54PM
I have only begun to scan my B&W shots and play with them on Photoshop with any degree of seriousness. This is an early attempt, and I'm posting it here partly to see how it looks myself, and partly to get feed back from some our more experienced computer darkroom folks. The original negative has some severe contrast problems, and one of the big advantages of the computer is it seems to be able to deal with contrast a whole lot easier than the "real" darkroom. I think it's a decent picture, but welcome critical feedback. It certainly provides a prototype for the lots-of-smoke-railfan-runbys. Will have to do some research to figure out the date, but I would guess circa 1962 while they were still handling the Gramps crude. Oh, I'm standing right at the west Cumbres yard limit sign if I remember correctly....it was a long time ago.
