Firsdt Time on the C & TS

July 06, 2005 09:16AM
I will be in Chama and take the train to Antonito on Tuesday thew 12th, stay over in Antonito and take the train back the next day. I don't remember who but somebody recommended that I travel in the parlor car so I'm doing that coming back. I wasted 5$ by not taking the parlor car from Chama to Antonito.
My question, I'm going to chase the train to Cumbres on Thursday and then thought I would go on over to Alamosa before heading back to Chama. Could somebody give me an idea where 169 is located and also are there any signs of the narrow gauge left in the SLRG yards and could I get close enough to photograph them? An address or street intersection would allow me to find it on MapQuest. I heard a rumor that the transfer crane is still there.
Incidentally, I mety a tourist here in SW Washington from Grand Junction, CO, who said that he and his wife head over to Alamosa once or twice a year just for the Mexican Food. Where would be the best spots for me to get MF because I love it.
Thanks in advance for any help.
