Treasures lost and found

WIth the highly negative thread below, I have another tale to counterbalance all that. I heard a story of a fellow who workd in the west tower at Omaha for the U.P. from the late 1920s to the early 1960s . He loved photography and trains and took photos of EVERY new locomotive that passed his tower on his shift! He was good at what he did, using reflex cameras. He often showed his photos proudly to his railfan buddies. It was clear that he had a thorough chronicle of the advance from big power to superpower steam on one of the most innovative railroads in the world, everything from 4-8-2s to gas turbines. He warned, however, that his wife hated his hobby and that his friends should try to aquire the collection in the event of his death . Well the invitable came suddenly . Inquiries from local local railfans were curtly bushed off by the resentfiul widow, wpo vowed to "thow all that trash away". So what do intrepid railfans do? They organize a garbage can patrol, and sure enough one sunny morning the entire negative collection filled three cans in the alley behind the widow's house! The railfans rescued it and donated it to the museum in Omaha.
