The Utica, NY Observer-Dispatch newspaper is reporting that "Vandals sank the Erie Canal Village packet boat, Chief Engineer.... Now it floats listlessly at the side of the canal, waiting for repairs after it ran into large rocks that someone had thrown into the water."
The Erie Canal Village, in Rome NY, is where Railstar operates their 2' gage trains. As previously discussed on here, they also are owners of the park.
I'm reminded of the proverb that "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"... Railstar is certainly having a tough year. They had that land ownership dispute at their operation in Maine (Did it get resolved?), the only steam locomotive at the Loop can only pull less than half the cars that the previous operator's locomotives could and now their Canal Village is without a boat.
