Driving down Isabelle road east of Boulder today I finally stopped and looked at a boxcar body that has caught my attention many times over the past few years. I am glad I stopped, as the car turns out to be Colorado & Southern narrow gauge boxcar #8027. The car is rough, but restorable.
#8027 is from the lot pf 40 cars (8025-8064) built by the St Charles Car Co in December of 1898 for the C&S. The C&S itself was formed in December of 1898. As far as I know, this is the only survivior of the group. With luck, the land owner will be open to the idea of parting with the car.
