Narrow Gauge Diesels

Anybody see the picture of an ex-Conrail 3600HP GE diesel that was converted to meter gauge in Brazil? Page 23 of this month's Railfan magazine. Remember the previous discussion on the need for the C&TS to acquire a diesel that had enough HP to haul more than a couple cars, dynamic brakes, and be modern enough that parts were available ? You could haul a bunch of ballast up the hill with that thing !
What if those trucks could be imported to the US and put under something with say 2000HP and an EMD 567 motor ? Unfortunately we're talking 150% the weight of a K37 and probably wouldn't fit through the tunnels. Even an SW-1 was about 100 tons.
Oh well, for a minute I thought it was a good idea... Next time I go to Brazil, I'm going to have to go find that railroad.
