I was just in Caboose Hobbies were I was looking at a copy of Norwoods Rio Grande Narrow Gauge and ran across an interesting photo. On page 224 it shows the 491 being towed out of the snowy tomb that encrusted it for several days as the Blizzard of 52 raged on. One interesting thing I saw was that the tender light was mounted to the side of the doghouse like the 490, 493, and 495 had. When did the 491 lose this configuration? Very interesting to me as I am very much interested in anything relating to the 37's. Did the 491 swap tenders with say the 493 or 495 in the early 50's? Curious and anyone with any info please chime in. Thanks.
