At long last I am pleased to announce that WW&F #10 was test fired on the afternoon of Sunday May 20. Everything went well.
The locomotive was taken out of service on Labor Day, last year, in order to retube it, make some repairs to it, and to make some cosmetic and operational changes to it.
#10 is a 1904 Vulcan product, built 30" gauge for Louisiana sugar plantations. It was bought by Edaville in 1959, regauged to 24" and put in to service at Pleasure Island near Boston. The WW&F purchased it in 1999.
The locomotive passed its hydro at the end of March and the past two months have been spent putting the rest of the engine back together. It is thanks to the numerous volunteers that gave their time on Saturdays, and many others that were there evenings during the week, that this engine came together so rapidly.
#10 will be operating for Memorial Day weekend and many other weekends throughout the summer. The schedule can be found at the URL below.
