Please forgive the non NG subject, but I had to share this with so many NG friends.
My daughter, Heather sang the National Anthem for VP Cheney's rally in Batavia today. It was the first such rally ever held in the county(east of Cincinnati).
Former Bengal Anthony Munoz is now the GOP party leader in the area, and he introduced her. I was very proud indeed, and this tops off a great beginning to her senior year.
After Cheney's 30 minute or so talk he shook hands with folks along the first couple of rows and thats where I was taking digitals, and I got to shake his hand and thanked him for comming to Batavia, and he replied you are welcome. My wife was further to the right, and she also shook his hand I found out later, so all of his got to shake the hand of a sitting vice-president...It was pretty awesome.
Afterwards many of the folks, including the dignitaries were so nice to Heather and her folks. I also had the pleasure to meet Mr. Maupin the father of Matt Maupin, the Marine who was captured 6 months ago, and his whereabouts are unknown. They live about 5 miles from us. The reality of the times we live it really hit home, and I expressed my concerns for his son who played football at Glen Este High School where I was 2 weeks about for Marching Band Competition.
Not wanting to get political here, cause I know not everyone is a GOP fan, but you have to respect the office.
I was not allowed to take video there, but we got some perk tickets up front. My daughter is now more famous than I will ever be, and thats the way it should be.
I was wearing my Colorado hat I bought in Salida in 1997, so if you see news clips of Cheney and see the tall guy with the black hat, thats me.
Thanks for indulging me this little essay. Now back to NG stuff, and in the future.
Cheers,
Greg Scholl
