It took $217,000 to buy a village

Here's a link to an article, from 2002, that describes Railstar's purchase of the Erie Canal Village:

Railstar purchased the entire Erie Canal Village for $217,000, in 2002. That's not bad, considering they started by just running the train and ended up being able to purchase the entire village. (Hey, if the repercusssions of the GLRR leaving turn out to be as bad as predicted on here, maybe Railstar will be able to buy Georgetown too?)
Also interesting is that the entire length of the village's track is only 1/2 mile. It's also pretty level, considering it parallels a segment of canal without any locks...
