Chama's decreasing population

I can only find population data for Chama since 1970. It would be interesting to see the population since the village was founded in 1880

Here is what I found on Wikipedia, said to be by the US census

By 1970 the D&RGW had abandoned the NG line, and the C&TS was in its infancy.
The population increased until 2000, and since it has been decreasing.
I suppose that the population has further declined since 2020.
With a loss of around 300 in population since 2000, I can understand how it is hard to keep businesses open.
With the loss of supporting businesses, (hotels, restaurants and even bars) there is less attraction for tourists, and ridership for the C&TS is sure to drop as well.

So what can be done to reverse the trend? What can Chama do to keep its young people employed? How can Chama attract new residents? Retired folks help some, but what Chama needs most is working age people, and jobs for them.
