Oops. In this view we see that Sumpter Valley Ry. Mike #18 has left the rails behind and plowed up the creek bottom. If you look back down the side of the engine you can spot a chain and some slack cable. Based on a companion shot, Sumpter Valley's wrecker is set up to pull the engine up so some timbers can be placed under the low side. We have other copies of this shot in other archive collections that may be a bit clearer. IIRC, the second guy from the right is SVRy master mechanic Floyd Carpenter. Based on the back drop, I think this is probably up the line around Salisbury and Lockhart. I have no information on the date or other circumstances of the derailment.
