What is left of an Early SVRy Shot

This Sumpter Valley Ry. photo looks like it has been pretty abused. None the less, we can at least identify the engine in the shot as Sumpter Valley Ry. #2 1st. This was Brooks mogul c/n 626 built in 1881 for the Utah Northern. It was one of the pair of initial engines that arrived on the Sumpter Valley in late 1890 or early 1891. The spotting feature for this engine is the arched cab windows which none of the other Brooks engines on the SVRy seem to have had. The consist is the typical set up for daily passenger service between Baker City and points west in the early days. The scan is from the SVRR Archive.
