SVRy 1st #2

This is an early shot taken at Devil's Gate also known as Boulder Gorge on the Sumpter Valley Ry. This is just belowe MP 15. The bridge was long known as "Red Bridge". It was replaced by a pile trestle in 1919, so no color shots of it exist, however we can infer that it had a coat red red paint similar to other structures on the line. The engine which is 1st #2 and caboose #02 are headed down grade toward Baker City. Engine 1st #2 was built by Brooks as C/N626 in 1881 for the Utah Northern and came to the SVRy in 1890 or 91.
