The East Broad Top opened June 5th for its 45th year of tourist operations.
#14 did the honors and ran without incident all wekend. From what I have heard she got some staybolts and some boiler sheet testing this spring and was found to be in very good condition, better than #15 was when her rebuild started. She is still running with #15's tender as she was most of last year. Her tenders trucks rebuilds were finished, but the railroad decided to overhaul the plumbing as well.
Saturday was very wet all day and attendance was low, but turnout was better for Sunday.
Tours were held around the yard and in the shops. Patronage was light, but not particularly so for early June.
#15 progresses and is still hoped to be out early in the fall. M-1 is at the Rockhill Trolley Museum for some more work. She is running OK but they are trying to get her running better and increase reliability. She got a new generator coupling and a fuel pump rebuild (IIRC) last year. M-4 (Plymouth) and M-7 (GE) are operating.
FEBT continues the rebuild of Caboose 28. The siding is on the sides and the new platforms are nearing completion. End siding, ironwork, window installation, roof reinstallation and some coupala repairs will be done in June and July. Work on the shops buildings is progressing with work concentrating on the Machine Shop, Loco Shop and Boiler House.
The Rockhill Trolley Museum was operating a York car and a SEPTA bullet car. Work continues in their restoration shops to bring more cars into operation.
