A time of Thanksgiving

November 25, 2021 07:42AM
I want to wish all of you a joyous thanksgiving and hope you are able to spend it with your loved ones as we reflect on the many blessings we share.

A few Railroad thoughts to ponder as you digest your turkey.

Tomorrow will mark the arrival of the Rio Grande Southern in Telluride 131 years ago. It will also mark the 130th anniversary of the arrival of the first train in Dolores.
The first passenger train into Rico was pulled into town by loco #168 (now on the C&TS) on October 15,1891.
70 years ago on the same day (11/26/51) the last RGS train left Rico for Ridgway signaling the end of the Rio Grande Southern RR.
