CHS...Advance to the Rear!!!

Gents,
The thought struck me the other day that something doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Lee Beherens, one of those instrumental in crafting the untenetable Georgetown Loop lease, is making no qualms about announcing that this is his last year with the CHS and that his plans are to run for political office.
He intends to quit the CHS and run as a Selectman for Georgetown, Colorado.
Now why would someone who plans to quit his job and attempt to get into a position of political power do his level best to ruin a working relationship that has existed for 30 years?
Does he have more than just political ambitions? Do he and the Mayor of Georgetown, in cahoots with Historic Georgetown, inc., plan to take over the operation of the Loop themselves? If so, where is the oversight? Don't these State Employees come under the Hatch Act where they aren't allowed to express their political preferences publicly?
Is there more intrigue than is showing on the surface? Methinks there is.
Maybe those laws only apply in other states.
There is a great odor wafting from Copenhagen about this mess, and it is settling on Georgetown.
Cripes, in reading this maybe i ought to change my name to Drew Pearson.
