The Baker White Pine Lumber Co. was one of the main shippers over the Sumpter Valley Ry. from its incorporation in 1910 until it went into receivership in 1928. Baker White Pine built a small company town and sawmill near mile post 54 with a new station on the railroad called "White Pine". The actual company site was on Crawford Creeks a little ways distant from the actual mainline of the SVRy and connected via a wye and its tail track by the depot. Baker White Pine shipped rough lumber cut at White Pine back to South Baker for drying and finishing at their large plant there. This shot shows just a bit of the residential area of the small company town. The scan is from the SVRR Archive
