Here's one hot off the press.
Jordan Run is the creek that runs behind the EBT shops complex. It starts near Jordan, a summit on the EBT's mainline, and runs through Rockhil down to Blacklog Creek. Most of the year it is a trickle of water but it can become a raging little torrent when the snow melts or a storm passes. Over the years it has meandered closer and closer to the yard until it is now eating away at the track along the west side of the yard. Brush had grown up over the years on the far side of the creek that continues to push it to the east.
During the work session this past weekend a crew worked to remove the brush and start to coax the flow of the creek back to its previous course. The change in the appearance alone is enormous. The area has gone from an eyesore to a scenic boundry to the yard. Water is flowing more freely and now will have someplace to go during high water other than agaist the yard tracks.
A lot more work has to be done to correct the erosion, however a big first step has been made. This is not as glamorous work as repairing buildings or rolling stock, but it is just as important to the railroad.
