I am going to say one more thing on this subject and then I am going to get back to something important.
I never called anyone a liar. I was trying to make the point that historical research is based on documentation or photographic evidence. There has been too much inaccurate information published on the D&RGW and RGS and I do not want to add anymore.
I will cite an example. A retired D&RGW engineer once told me a story about being caught in the cab of a mudhen in a snow slide. He related details of how they were rescued by a rotary plow. He could not remember the date and had no photographs. I would have never used this info in the book I am writing, but later I found an account of the incident in two newspapers and the D&RGW records. Human memory is not a reliable source for a historian.
