Ultimate fate of K-27's #458 and #459?

November 01, 2003 10:37AM
It is common knowledge around narrow gauge circles that K-27 #463 is at the C&TSRR. It is less known but also true that #464 is now at the Huckleberry R.R. in Michigan.
Perusing through an article about K-27s, I note that #'s 458 and 459 went to Mexico. In another article it is mentioned that #459 was "regauged" after going to Mexico. I can only assume that both engines were "regauged" upon arrival south of the border.
It has also been stated that #'s 463 and 464 are the only remaining K-27s. What was the ultimate fate of #'s 458 and 459? When were they scrapped or ar they just rusting away in some field in Mexico?
