AFE#T8244 (12-31-40) Construct 10 N.G. All Steel
Flat Cars 80M capacity, length over end sills
41"6" Cast Steel Bettendorf type trucks.
Built Aug. & Oct 1940. Weight 28,300#. BY D&RGW.
Built from underframes & other usable material
from 10 old Standard Gauge 28M series.
Original cost of group $13249.31
Cost each #6500-6508 $1324.93
Cost of # 6509 $1324.94.
AFE#7575 Retire 4 cars: 6500,6501,6502,6504
AFE#8975 Retire 6 cars:6503,6505,6506,6507,6580,
6509.............................................
Note 1: Written in the D&RGW accounting book was
That cars 6507,6508, & 6509 were retired in 1970
under AFE#7575 but was "whited out" and now
shows that these 3 cars were retired under
AFE#8975.
Note 2: For those new to this list AFE#7575 of
1970 was the one that "Retired" the Narrow Gauge
from Alamosa to Durango, Farmington.
AFE#8975 Covered the sale of the Silverton Branch
in 1981.
