Colorado NG locomotive movements since 1972

July 24, 2003 05:13PM
Here's a quick dating of the movements for those I could find easily. I also added DSP&P 151 as this does not need to be confined to D&RG(W).
NOTE: "never moved" is short hand for "never moved by truck after 1972".
Durango:
K-27 464 - 197? from Durango to Buena Vista, CA - Huckleberry - ? from Buena Vista, CA to Huckleberry
K-28 473 - never moved
K-28 476 - never moved
K-28 478 - never moved
K-36 481 - never moved
K-37 497 - 1991 swapped for C&TS 482 in Chama
C-18 315 (425) - moved once with Chamber of Commerce - with luck back to active rails
Alamosa:
K-36 480 - 1981 from Alamosa to Durango
K-37 491 - 1985 from Alamosa to Golden
K-37 493 - 1981 from Alamosa to Durango
K-37 498 - 1981 from Alamosa to Durango - by rail to Silverton
K-37 499 - 1981 from Alamosa to Durango - 2000? from Durango to Royal Gorge for 486
T-12 169 - soon to new shelter - with luck back to active rails
Chama:

K-36 483 - never moved
K-36 484 - never moved
K-36 487 - never moved
K-36 488 - never moved
K-36 489 - never moved
K-37 492 - never moved
Antonito:
K-27 463 - never moved
K-37 494 - never moved
K-37 495 - never moved
Royal Gorge:
K-36 486 - 2000? from Royal Gorge to Durango for 499
Gunnison:
C-16 268 - ? may have been moved inside the city like C-18 315
Montrose:
C-16 278 - ? moved from Montrose to Cimmaron
Denver:
RGS 42 (420) -? from Denver to Durango
Golden:
C-18 318 (428)
C-19 346 (409) - 2003 sort of has moved - frame and boiler sent to Strassburg, PA for repair
RGS 20 - was technically owned by the D&RG (no W) when the equipment went to them after the F&CC shut down. They subsequently farmed the 20 and what would become the 22 and 25 to their then subsidiary RGS. To my knowledge, none of the ten-wheelers ever sported D&RG lettering or assigned numbers, unlike the C-18s.
Colorado Springs:
T-12 168
Boulder:
RGS 74 - C&S 74 - ? about 150 feet
Buena Park, CA:
C-19 340 (400)
C-19 RGS 41 (409)
Salt Lake City, UT:
C-16 223 - The 223 was moved from Liberty Park to the Rio Grande Depot (now the Utah State Historical Society Complex) in the 1980's. In the late 1990's the 223 was moved (by lowboy truck) to the Utah State Railroad Museum/Ogden Union Station for storage and restoration.
Rhinelander Logging Museum, Wisconsin
DSP&P 191 - CRRM obtained 2/1973. The oldest authentic Colorado locomotive.
