I probably should have waited until Sept to observe it's 20th anniversary, but I had the shoebox labeled "1983 slides" out and before it got buried in the closet again I found a few more "gems".
The 1983 RMRRC trip was the first RMRRC outing in Chama in several years. We did our best to put on a good show, and I think this was the beginnings of our growing charter biz. The trip ran to Big Horn and back with 488, 2 box cars, open gon, 9 boxcar coaches and 0503 on the rear. Russ and I were on the engine, Getman was conductor, Greg Stabolepsi was brakeman.
The night before, Russ and I put on a night photo session. We took 488 to the coal tipple for some pics and discovered how cool the 488 lit up the water tank with her headlight. Results are below:
