Trowbridge specials early 90s

April 17, 2003 01:11PM
I was flipping through some old pictures and found photos I took on the Trowbridge (I think) in Sept. 92. The consist was half freight (boxes, gons, flats, no tanks they were not finished yet), with 497 as the road engine and 489 as the helper in mid train. Of course after the 489 were the box coaches.
I rode the special the year before (1991) but cannot find my pics for that, I believe it was on the 1st of Sept. Do any former/current employees or riders have any recollection of that trip (ie the consist, engine(s)), I cannot even remember if it was a double header. I know I rode the photographers special on the D&S later that month (I found those pics) and they surprisingly double headed a very short consist, probably 10-11 cars , with the 473 & 476. It surprisingly was a very good trip, their 1992 photographers special was poor, 482, with thier version of freight ( gold box, EBT gon, 6500 flat, and the gold coaches). Back then they had a unique flair for authenticity. Thank goodness they've gotten better.
Anyway, just trying to refresh my memory. Thanks to any and all who respond.
