For Mike Trent: Alamosa D&RGW Bridge

February 26, 2003 06:11PM
Mike: My report is a day late because we couldn't drive back to Boulder yesterday because of ALL the snow.
The bridge: It's a low pile steel I-beam trestle. there are three girders running under the track. The bridge is just past MP 251. There are at least 25 panels to it.
I walked over it to the valley line wye. The SG track for the wye is still in place. There is a passing siding south of the main and the two legs of the wye come off of the siding. The tail of the wye goes all the way to Hwy 160.
Further discovery: What I took to be the old refinery has a large fenced in area. It has AT LEAST 12 NG stock cars (both cattle and sheep) and 10 NG boxcars inside the fence. There appears to be a NG gon also but I couldn't get a good look at it. There are also a number of buildings behind the fence! The area is just east of where the roundhouse was (it now has a wye there).
