There was a thread before the board shut down that mentioned a RGS rotary that ended up on the Kaslo and Slocan. I seem to remember reading that it was converted to std. ga. by the CPR. Anybody know what happened to it and also why did the RGS sell it in the first place.
I am going to coincidently be in Kaslo this weekend so kinda got to thinking about this long gone NG rr. The K&S was backed by the Great Northern who along with the CPR had steamboats on Kootenay Lk. I think I remember reading that the GN's boats ran up the Kootenay River to Bonners Ferry Id. Great Northern in a race against the CPR attempted to build a line North from Argenta on the east side of the lk. near the N. end up country to the mining boom at Trout Lk. The CPR building from a landing at Lardo on the west side of the lk. beat the GN through a canyon that had only room for one line. AS the K&S was NG, did Great Northern also intend to build this uncompleted line NG?
