CTSRR Commision Meeting -Ignore if squeamish

January 25, 2003 07:19PM
Meeting was held at the high school in Antonito.
Commisison sat on the stage. NO sound system, and terrible acoustics.
I have to report that I barely heard anything that was said.
The general attitude of The Commission appears to be that having these public meetings is a huge bother, and that those of us who voice our concerns are just a pain in the ass to be gotten through and forgotten about.
Apparently the negotiations are not going well, and the negotiators are not doing what the Commissioners voted they should do at the last meeting.
They are talking about the MONEY that is owed back and forth between Commission and RGRPC. They came close to having to go into arbitration, but are trying to avoid that. The RGRPC is apparently offering a 'settlement'.
They are also talking about a MANAGEMENT contract for the WHOLE SHEBANG, and NOT about the Commission retaining the track and the shop.
Charman Salisbury said at the close of the meeting that next meeting in two weeks will have an executive session, because the 'negotiatiors' are not doing what they were charged with.
After the meeting, just about every commissioner and some board members of the Friends/RGRPC were told by myself and shop members that bringing back the old model was going to wreck the shop. I now understand what it is like to talk to a wall.
Picture this:
After the meeting, Rob and Ed and I went to Stefan's for lunch.
Geof Gordon, Dick Cowles and Carl Turner showed up, followed by Steve Malnar.
All at the same table.
We had a jolly time.
Sort of like the old joke about The Knights sitting around the square table throwing camel turds at each other, for in those days bullshit was as yet unheard of. <img class=" />
More tomorrow.
Maybe Vernon can come up with a better report.
I feel like I just wasted a good Saturday.
There is more on this at The Goat
