Just talked to a Smithsonian Staff person who is working on the new Transportation Exhibit in the American History Museum.
As things now stand the narrow gauge engine from 1876 is staying put in the exhibit.
Good news for all of us fans of Western Narrow Gauge history! the first phase of the exhibit is planned to open in Spring 2003
