A few weeks back, I had the pleasure of spending 3 days up at the Sumpter Valley Railroad in McEwen, Oregon. It was one of the few heritage narrow gauge operations in the US that I hadn't yet visited, so the annual Fall Photo Weekend provided a great opportunity to see the line and get some nice shots of the equipment in action. Heisler #3 provided the power for the weekend and Martin Hansen was on hand to lead our tour and call the shots. We had one day with with some pretty angry-looking clouds (although it never actually rained) and one day with sunshine and blue sky. There was even some morning ground fog thrown in for good measure. All of us who attended had a great time, and I personally am already planning to get back there when Mikado #19 is up and running.
I've put together a little photo album with just over a dozen samples of the images that came from that weekend. Since I shot nearly 2000 pictures, I suspect I'll be adding a few more over time.
To the photos!
