Deadhead Passenger Equipment West - 488 engineer Shock, fireman Headrick. Call time 1230pm.
This one was interesting as it was a deadhead west to Durango a month before the Silverton train started in mid-June. This was at the beginning of the D&RGW's "Rio Grande Land" era and perhaps this deadhead was to bring the passenger consist over the DGO for some publicity event. Somewhere I have the details of what transpired over the next couple of days.
However, in a few days, 488 will drag the whole works back to Alamosa (with help up Cumbres) for the RMRRC trip on Memorial Day Weekend.
