in response to the earlier thread about the "new" tender for 268, I think it's just too small to come from a k-27. Take a lookat the late '30's tender for c-18 316. Identical short tender with large air tank. Was 316 mothballed or cut up before '49? incidently, the 316 had a flare-side up to the early 1930's as did the majority of the small engines.
