A Test of My New Scanner *PIC*

During the late summer of 1957, I had my first encounter with the Colorado narrow gauge. My family traveled from Springfield, MO to visit my great uncle who lived in Salida. We went via the Frisco to KC, via the MOP to Pueblo, and via the D&RGW to Salida. My great uncle took us on a drive over the recently abandoned Marshall Pass line. Although just 3 years old at the time, I have very vivid memories of this stop somewhere along the Marshall Pass line. For some reason, I thought at the time that the car was an over-turned boxcar. I also remember being a bit apprehensive that car would go sliding down the hillside after I stepped on it. Anyway... here is a shot of me trying to make the wheels turn.
It was nearly 20 years later before I returned to Marshall Pass. I moved to Denver in 1977, and I made several trips over the pass. Although looked closely my my old car, I never did find it.
